FACTS IN FICTION: THE CIVIL WAR ERA

NEW BOOK DISCUSSION SERIES AT THE RACHEL KOHL LIBRARY

The Rachel Kohl Library is pleased to announce a new book discussion series: Facts in Fiction: The Civil War Era that will begin in February, 2011. Four different award-winning fiction books will be discussed and the schedule is as follows:

Feb. 3, 2011: Killer Angels by Michael Shaara

Feb. 24, 2011: Lincoln by Gore Vidal

March 17, 2011: The March by E. l. Doctorow

April 7, 2011: Song Yet Sung by James McBride

The discussions will be led by Dr. Doreen Saar, PhD. a member of the Drexel University Faculty. The 90 minute programs begin at 2:00pm and will be held in the library’s community room. The first 30 people who register for each program will receive a free copy of the book. Registration in the library is required for participation.

Facts in Fiction: The Civil War Era is part of Read About It, a book discussion series of the PA Humanities Council. This program is supported by the National Endowment of the Humanities and the We the People Initiative on American History.

Facts in Fiction: the Civil War Era is being presented as part of Legacies & Lessons: Western Delaware County Presents the Civil War at 150 (L&L). L&L is a collaborative effort by eleven local historical and cultural organizations to commemorate the American Civil War, and to give area residents a voice in the national conversation about the War and its effects, then and now. Watch for announcements of programming throughout 2011.
